Size by Distance
Calculate ideal TV size based on your couch distance and resolution.
All recommendations are based on viewing angle and resolution science, not brand preference. Results are derived from industry standards (THX, SMPTE) and validated by thousands of real-world users.
4K: 4x the pixels, sharper images. Best if you sit close or watch high-resolution content.
1080p: Still excellent quality from farther away. More affordable.
Use the calculator above! The TV should fill 30-40° of your field of vision for immersive viewing, or 20-30° for comfortable daily watching.
Wall mount: Saves space, looks clean, optimal viewing angle. Use our mount height calculator.
Stand: More flexible, no drilling required.
Not necessarily. A TV that’s too large for your viewing distance causes eye strain and neck tension from tracking across the entire screen. Too small and you lose detail and immersion. The sweet spot is typically 30-40° of your field of view. That’s what our calculator finds.
Not directly—viewing distance is determined by screen size and resolution (4K vs 1080p). However, OLED’s superior contrast and color accuracy look better up close, while QLED’s brightness handles bright rooms better. Both technologies work across all viewing distances, but your optimal distance remains the same.
Measure your fixed viewing distance, then use our calculator to find the optimal TV size for that distance. If the recommended TV is too large for your stand/wall space, consider a slightly smaller size and adjust viewing mode to “Immersive” for a more engaging experience from a fixed position.
4K TVs are designed for closer viewing (down to 20-24 inches from the screen), so pixel density is rarely an issue. However, sitting too close (within 1-1.5m for large screens) can still cause neck strain and eye fatigue. The optimal distance balances sharpness with viewing comfort—not just pixel visibility.
